EV Charger Installation in Hammersmith, Fulham and Kensington
Hammersmith, Fulham and Kensington are mostly Victorian terraces, garden squares, mews and mansion blocks, and most residents park on the street under resident permits. Home EV charging here depends a lot on the type of property. This post covers the options in West and South West London, from mews houses with garages to flats with no parking at all.
Areas we cover
We fit chargers across Hammersmith, Shepherd's Bush, Fulham, Parsons Green, Earls Court, Kensington, Notting Hill, Holland Park and Chelsea. Our main blog covers electrical work in Hammersmith and Fulham and Kensington and Chelsea.
Mews houses and garages
Mews houses often have a garage or a forecourt, which makes them some of the easiest homes in the area for a charger. Many are in conservation areas, so the charger position and finish should suit the frontage. We check the supply, earthing and consumer unit first. Our guide on whether you need a new consumer unit for an EV charger explains what we look for.
Houses with front gardens
Some terraces have small front gardens, but converting them to parking needs council permission and a dropped kerb, which is not always granted. Check with the council before planning a charger around a new parking space.
Mansion blocks and managed parking
Blocks with underground or courtyard parking can add chargers with the freeholder's agreement, often with load management shared between bays. Our guide to grants and building regulations for flats covers the funding side.
On-street parking
For most residents, public lamp post and kerbside chargers are the practical option. Never run a cable across the pavement. Our post on EV charging without a drive sets out the choices.
Energy North Ltd installs home and car park chargers across North, East and West London with City & Guilds certified electricians. See our EV charger installation page to book a survey.
