EV Charger Installation in Enfield and Barnet

Enfield and Barnet have more driveways and off-street parking than most of London, which makes them two of the easiest boroughs to fit a home charger. This guide covers what a typical installation involves in local homes and what to sort out before you book.

Areas we cover

In Enfield we work in Southgate, Palmers Green, Winchmore Hill, Enfield Town, Bush Hill Park, Edmonton, Ponders End and Oakwood. In Barnet we cover Finchley, Whetstone, Barnet, East Barnet, Mill Hill, Hendon, Edgware and Golders Green.

A typical installation

  • Survey: we check the supply, the consumer unit, the earthing and the cable route from the board to the parking space.
  • Charger position: usually on the front wall or a post by the drive, close enough that the cable reaches the car without trailing across the path.
  • Cable route: through the wall and along the outside of the house, clipped or in conduit, or underground to a post where needed.
  • Testing and paperwork: the new circuit is tested, the charger set up on your app, and you receive an Electrical Installation Certificate with Building Control notification.

Things that change the price

  • A long cable run, for example from a board at the back of the house to a drive at the front.
  • A board that needs replacing to take the new circuit.
  • Groundworks if the charger goes on a post away from the house.
  • The charger model you choose.

Before you book

  • Check where your consumer unit and meter are, and where you park.
  • If you rent or own a flat, get written permission from the landlord or freeholder, and look at the grant for renters and flat owners.
  • Think about future needs: a second car or a heat pump later may change the best set-up now.

Book in Enfield or Barnet

Energy North Ltd is based on Bowes Road in N11, between Southgate and Friern Barnet, and has worked across North London since 2017. We give a fixed price for EV charger installation after a quick look at your board and parking. Landlords can book an EICR at the same time.
